Advert Attack

Introduction

Advert Attack is a game where you play "Ace Zafara" and you have to race in a spaceship while trying to beat the computer-controlled character. The marketing department of "Virtupets Studios" has been trying to earn extra revenues from the game's popularity... You have been warned! Basically, you have to beat the other person, your plight will be hindered by the masses of adverts (or pop-ups) that "pop-up" on your screen, sometimes covering the stars that you strive to click.

If you get very frustrated with pop-ups in general, I suggest you don't play this game (I'm not sure why you would even want to read this guide in the first place if that is so) because you may find that various pieces of hardware come into danger if you get a little angry with all the pop-ups that just wont go away!

Controls + how to play

All you have to do, is quite simply, use your mouse. Click on the star-shaped things that say "GO" and come up in the lower screen (so don't go crazy looking for them at the top) You have to click these to move, otherwise Ace Zafara will sit in the same place without moving at all. If you find that the reason you can't click the "GO" button is because of a pop-up being in the way, make sure that you get rid of the pop-up quick, otherwise you will lose some valuable time!

Types of adverts

Scorchy slots - An ad telling you to visit scorchy slots and you should make a fair amount of neopoints. Easy to get rid of, just click the red "X" in the corner.
Krawk corporation - A large ad that asks you to download some content after agreeing to something. There is two ways to get rid of this one, either the red "X" in the corner or press "no". Don't press "yes" otherwise another ad will appear.
Neomail waiting for you - You have neomail! Don't click "ok" just click the red "X" or another ad will appear.
Set your homepage - Set your homepage to http://www.virtupets.com , I think not, just press the red "X" or "no".
Neofriends - Where did you go to school? Where are they now? This one is so annoying, you have to go to the top of the screen to get rid of it and because half of the red box is hidden, sometimes you will have to move the whole thing.
The money tree - This one is very green and takes up most of the screen and the only way to get rid of it is by clicking the red "X". Make sure you get rid of this one (and the battledome one) because they can slow the game down a bit.
Close this window - There are quite a few variations of these, instead of pressing the red "X" though, you have to click on the "close this window".
Login - This is the login screen that Neopets used to have. The only way to get rid of this one is by clicking the red "X". Miss that button and even more ads will pop up.

There are no pop-ups in the first level but they start to show up in the following ones, in each level there is more appearing and each gets harder to close, even though there is exactly 30 "GO" buttons each time!

Score + maximise it

After you finish every round, 50 points will be added to your score, as well as any time bonus you had left over. So try as hard as you can to be really fast, which is where very fast mouse skills comes into play, trust me - in this game, time is very important!

Tips & hints

Only get rid of ads that are going to get (or already are) in the way of the "GO" buttons, so don't touch them if they are only in the top screen!
Don't watch the race, it is important that you are entirely focused on the game. It doesn't matter if you are winning or losing just as long as you are focused on hitting those buttons as fast as you possibly can!
Only click the "close" button on the ads. This might be "no", "X" or "close this window". Sometimes if you press the ad instead of the close button, then more pop-ups will appear.
You may wish to play the fullscreen option, I think that entirely depends on your preferences, screen size or resolution, mine is way too large. Think about how far you have to move the mouse to click as fast as possible!
Practise makes perfect, I've been playing this game for ever, and over that time, I may not be brilliant but I can get a score I'm happy with. Play to your best not someone else's.
The pop-ups aren't real, so they wont hurt your computer in any way but pop-up blockers wont help either.
Make sure that you have enough room for you to be able to move the mouse freely. It gets annoying if the keyboard is too close or something is in the way frequently.
